FC Dallas Extends Alan Velasco with Long-Term Contract
December 12 – FC Dallas has secured the future of their dynamic Argentinian winger, Alan Velasco, by signing him to a long-term contract extension. Announced on Thursday, the deal will begin in 2025 and spans four years, with an additional one-year club option.
The 22-year-old Velasco has been a standout talent for Dallas since joining the team in 2022. Over the course of 62 MLS appearances, including 55 starts, he has contributed significantly to the team’s offense, tallying 12 goals and 13 assists. His flair and creativity on the field have made him a key player in the club’s lineup.
Despite his impressive contributions, Velasco faced adversity in 2024 as he recovered from a knee injury sustained during the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. His absence was felt throughout the season, but his return to fitness has the team optimistic about his impact in the years to come.
Velasco’s off-the-field status also saw a significant development in March 2024 when he obtained a U.S. green card. This allows him to be classified as a domestic player, freeing up an international roster slot for FC Dallas and giving the club greater roster flexibility.
By locking down Velasco with this extension, FC Dallas underscores its commitment to building a strong core of young, talented players. Velasco’s new Young Designated Player contract reflects the club’s confidence in his ability to lead the team’s attack for years to come.
