Sergio Garcia Finalizes Fireballs GC Roster with Luis Masaveu
Sergio Garcia has completed his 2025 LIV Golf roster for Fireballs GC, adding 22-year-old Spanish golfer Luis Masaveu. The Madrid native joins fellow Spaniard David Puig and Mexico’s Abraham Ancer, forming a team poised to build on past successes.
Masaveu’s Impressive Credentials
Masaveu brings an impressive amateur pedigree to the professional stage. He reached the semifinals of the 2024 U.S. Amateur and twice claimed the Low-Am trophy at the Spanish Open (2022, 2024). Last year, Masaveu made history as the first Spanish amateur to make the cut at The Open Championship.
“We’re excited about him,” Garcia said. “He’s a really good, exciting young Spanish player with a lot of potential. It’s going to be a great learning experience for him playing with the big guns, and our team will be there to support him every step of the way.”
Masaveu turned professional in October 2024 and earned full Challenge Tour status via the Global Amateur Pathway ranking. He replaces Eugenio Chacarra on the Fireballs roster.
Masaveu’s Excitement to Join
Masaveu expressed his enthusiasm about joining Garcia’s team:
“It’s amazing. I’ve been watching Sergio since I was a kid, seeing him win the Masters and play in the Ryder Cup. It’s just incredible to be on his team. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can.”
Fireballs GC: A Team with High Expectations
While Garcia finished third in the 2024 individual championship, Fireballs GC ended the season ranked sixth out of 13 teams. The team has a strong legacy, being the only LIV team to win at least one tournament in each of the league’s first three years. Masaveu’s addition is expected to enhance their chances in the upcoming season.
David Puig, 23, welcomed Masaveu warmly, highlighting their shared history on the Spanish national team:
“Luis is a great guy and a talented player. I’m excited to have him on board.”
LIV Golf 2025 Update
With Masaveu now on the Fireballs roster, only one LIV spot remains open for the 2025 season. Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin is reportedly close to signing with Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team.
The Fireballs are set to continue their strong showing in LIV Golf, with Garcia leading a dynamic, youthful squad into the 2025 season.
