Spring Training Recap: Alex Bregman Hits Homer in Debut

Bregman Shines in Red Sox Debut, Blue Jays Rally Late for Win

The star third baseman, who recently inked a three-year, $120 million deal, went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a towering two-run homer. His strong performance, however, wasn’t enough as the Toronto Blue Jays staged a dramatic six-run rally in the ninth inning to secure an 8-7 victory in Fort Myers, Florida.

Josh Kasevich delivered the decisive blow for Toronto, driving in the go-ahead runs with a clutch two-run single to right field. The Blue Jays’ ninth-inning surge began with run-scoring plays from Devonte Brown (two-run single), Dasan Brown (bases-loaded walk), and Cutter Coffey (RBI single), which flipped a 5-2 deficit into a 6-5 lead.

Boston attempted to mount a comeback of its own in the bottom of the ninth, with Max Ferguson delivering a two-run single to left. However, the rally fell short as Marcelo Mayer grounded out against Paxton Schultz, sealing the victory for Toronto.
