Chalobah Injured as Maresca Aims to Revive Chelsea

Trevoh Chalobah Sidelined as Maresca Seeks Chelsea Revival

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is set to miss at least a week of action after sustaining an injury during the club’s 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa over the weekend. Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the setback on Monday, adding to Chelsea’s growing injury list at a crucial stage in the season.

Injury Woes Mount for Chelsea

Chalobah’s absence means Chelsea will be without yet another key player, joining the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Romeo Lavia, and Wesley Fofana on the sidelines. The injury crisis has made Chelsea’s quest for a top-four finish increasingly challenging.

“He had a check yesterday, and he will be out for around one week to 10 days,” Maresca revealed ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming clash against Southampton. “On one side, it is good because it is not a serious injury, but on the other, it is a shame because we lose another player at a time when we have already had so many injuries.”

Jorgensen’s Costly Error and Maresca’s Backing

Chelsea’s loss to Aston Villa marked their third consecutive defeat in all competitions, a frustrating run that included a costly mistake from goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, which led to Villa’s late winner. Despite the setback, Maresca remains confident in his goalkeeper.

“He feels a little bit sad and upset because he recognises it was a mistake, but overall, he is okay,” Maresca said, reaffirming his faith in Jorgensen as Chelsea’s No. 1.

Southampton Clash: A Potential Trap Game?

Chelsea, currently seventh in the Premier League, will now turn their attention to a home fixture against bottom-placed Southampton. Despite Southampton’s struggles, Maresca has warned against underestimating their opponents.

“I don’t trust games like this; they can be tricky,” he said. “If you watch their game against Manchester United away, they were winning 1-0 until the last five minutes. From now on, every game is tough because every team is playing for something.”

Maresca Eyes Winning Run to Restore Confidence

With 12 games left in the season, Maresca acknowledged that Chelsea needs to regain their winning form quickly to maintain their push for Champions League qualification.

“When you are at Chelsea, you prepare to win every game,” Maresca stated. “From now on, every match is a must-win for us. I have the feeling that if we win one, we can build good momentum again, and right now, that is exactly what the players need.”

With key players out and pressure mounting, Chelsea will be desperate to turn things around, starting with a much-needed victory against Southampton.
