Yankees 12, Phillies 3 – Spencer Jones Leads Offensive Explosion
The New York Yankees put on a power-hitting clinic in a 12-3 blowout of the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday in Clearwater, Florida. Top prospect Spencer Jones stole the show, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run that fueled a massive seven-run third inning.
The Yankees wasted no time getting on the board, with George Lombard Jr. delivering an RBI single in the second, followed by Jones’ run-scoring double. In the third, Paul Goldschmidt capped off the scoring spree with a two-run blast, while Jasson Dominguez also homered to extend the lead.
The Yankees’ offense racked up 15 hits, with Lombard, Dominguez, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Pablo Reyes each collecting two hits. On the mound, starter Will Warren (2-0) turned in a strong three-inning performance, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out four.
For the Phillies, Zack Wheeler (0-1) struggled, surrendering six runs (five earned) on eight hits in just two-plus innings. Max Kepler provided a small highlight for Philadelphia with a solo home run.

Rays 4, Tigers 1 – Matthew Etzel Sparks Tampa Bay’s Win
Matthew Etzel was the unexpected hero for the Tampa Bay Rays, delivering a go-ahead two-run double and later adding a solo home run to lead Tampa Bay past the Detroit Tigers in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Eloy Jiménez chipped in with a solo shot for the Rays, while reliever Alex Faedo (1-1) earned the win with a scoreless fifth inning. Tampa Bay’s pitching staff combined to allow just five hits on the day.
The Tigers got on the board early when Ryan Kreidler’s sacrifice fly drove in Colt Keith, but their offense stalled after that. Reliever Dietrich Enns (0-1) gave up the decisive two-run double to Etzel in the next inning.
Twins 0, Braves 0 – Pitchers Shine in Scoreless Draw
A dominant outing by Chris Sale helped the Atlanta Braves shut down the Minnesota Twins in a scoreless draw in North Port, Florida.
Sale worked four hitless innings, striking out four and walking one before handing the ball over to four relievers, who combined to allow just four hits. Austin Riley had two of Atlanta’s five hits, while Garrett Cooper’s double was the only extra-base hit of the game.
For the Twins, starter Randy Dobnak was just as effective, striking out five batters while allowing three hits and two walks in three innings. Jose Miranda was the only multi-hit player for Minnesota, finishing 2-for-3.
Cardinals (ss) 6, Mets 1 – St. Louis Splits Squad, Secures Win
The St. Louis Cardinals’ split squad took care of business, defeating the New York Mets in Jupiter, Florida behind a two-run homer by Matt Koperniak.
Nolan Arenado got things started with a two-run double before Koperniak extended the lead with his blast. Starter Andre Pallante (1-0) was sharp, allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out two.
The Mets struggled offensively, mustering just five hits and scoring their only run on a fielding error in the eighth inning. Starter Tylor Megill (0-1) gave up the first run on a Jose Fermin single in the second before exiting in the third.
Guardians 8, Angels 1 – Cleveland Rallies Late for Victory
The Cleveland Guardians stormed back in the sixth and seventh innings to secure an 8-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels in Goodyear, Arizona.
Cleveland took advantage of Angels reliever Caden Dana, who surrendered seven runs on five hits and four walks in just over an inning. Lane Thomas and Bo Naylor sparked a four-run sixth inning, while Yordys Valdes capped off a three-run seventh with a two-run homer.
Logan Allen (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings in relief, while starter Gavin Williams impressed with six strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings, giving up just one run.
For the Angels, starter Jack Kochanowicz was solid, allowing three hits over three scoreless innings. 19-year-old Nelson Rada delivered an RBI single in the third, and rookie Christian Moore added a triple.
Athletics 6, Rangers 3 – Oakland’s Bats Power Past Texas

Chicago blew the game open with four runs in the sixth and a seven-run seventh, led by James Triantos, who came off the bench to deliver a double, triple, two runs, and two RBIs.
For the Padres, starter Matt Waldron (1-1) gave up two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings, and all six of San Diego’s hits were singles. Jack Costello drove in their only run with an RBI single in the eighth.
