Jaguars to Part Ways with WR Christian Kirk

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to release wide receiver Christian Kirk, a move that will free up $10.4 million in salary cap space ahead of the new season.

Kirk, 28, was entering the final year of his four-year, $72 million contract, which he signed with Jacksonville in 2022. The deal included a $20 million signing bonus and $37 million in guaranteed money, making him one of the highest-paid receivers at the time of his signing.

After an impressive 2022 season, where he recorded 1,108 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, injuries slowed his momentum. In 2023, a core muscle injury sidelined him late in the season, and in 2024, a broken collarbone ended his campaign prematurely. Despite the setbacks, Kirk remained a key piece of the Jaguars’ offense, starting seven of the eight games he played last season and tallying 27 catches for 379 yards and a touchdown.

Kirk’s departure marks the end of his two-year run in Jacksonville, where he became a go-to target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Across his NFL career, which began with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, Kirk has played in 93 games (77 starts), amassing 5,176 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns on 404 receptions.

With free agency approaching, Kirk is expected to attract interest from receiver-needy teams looking for a proven playmaker when healthy.
