NBA Overturns Chet Holmgren’s Technical Foul Decision

NBA Rescinds Chet Holmgren’s Technical Foul After Review

The NBA has officially rescinded a technical foul that was assessed to Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren earlier this month. The decision was announced Monday following a review by the league office, though no specific explanation was provided for the reversal.

The technical foul occurred during the fourth quarter of Oklahoma City’s Feb. 7 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Holmgren, who was playing in his first game back after a three-month absence due to a pelvic fracture, was whistled for the infraction immediately after blocking a layup attempt by Ja’Kobe Walter. His rejection sent the ball into the hands of teammate Alex Caruso, but officials quickly called a technical, seemingly for his reaction after the play.

Despite the foul, Holmgren made his presence felt in his return, playing 22 minutes and contributing four points, five rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. The 22-year-old rookie has been a key figure for the Thunder this season, averaging 15.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks across 15 starts.

With the technical foul now removed from his record, Holmgren and the Thunder can focus on maintaining their strong season as they continue their playoff push.
