NFL Announces Lions Update Ahead of Green Bay Game in Detroit

The Detroit Lions are currently leading the NFC with a 11-1 record, tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best in the league.

Detroit has secured six double-digit victories this season, and appeared poised for another dominant win on Thanksgiving against the Chicago Bears. However, the game turned into a thrilling contest as rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the Bears mounted a dramatic comeback.

In the final moments, Chicago had a chance to tie or even win the game, but Bears head coach Matt Eberflus chose not to use his last timeout as the clock wound down. Williams’ final throw fell incomplete at Ford Field, sealing the Lions’ victory. The Thanksgiving showdown between Detroit and Chicago not only delivered an exciting finish, but also set a viewership record.

“The early game on CBS between the Bears and Lions averaged 37.5 million viewers,” the NFL reported, “making it the most-watched early Thanksgiving Day game on record, an 11% increase from last year’s Packers vs. Lions game, which held the previous record.”

Looking ahead, the Lions will face another high-stakes divisional matchup this week when the Green Bay Packers (9-3) visit Detroit for “Thursday Night Football.” Detroit previously defeated Green Bay 24-14 at Lambeau Field in Week 9.
