RB Ashton Jeanty Opts Out of NFL Combine Drills

RB Ashton Jeanty Skipping NFL Combine Drills, Will Focus on Pro Day

Former Boise State star Ashton Jeanty, a projected first-round pick and one of the top running back prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, has decided to skip on-field drills and workouts at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL Network.

Prioritizing Pro Day Over Combine Workouts

Jeanty, who finished as the runner-up for the 2024 Heisman Trophy, will still participate in medical evaluations and team interviews at the Combine but will not take part in the 40-yard dash, agility drills, or positional workouts. His agent confirmed that Jeanty intends to showcase his skills at Boise State’s pro day instead, where he will have more control over the testing conditions and work directly with teams in a familiar setting.

A Record-Breaking 2024 Season

Jeanty’s decision comes after a historic college season in which he rushed for an astonishing 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, finishing just 27 yards shy of Barry Sanders’ legendary 1988 single-season record (2,628 yards). His dominant performances helped lead Boise State to a 12-2 record and a spot in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, where they fell to Penn State 31-14 in the Fiesta Bowl.

A Dynamic Running Back Prospect

Known for his explosive breakaway speed, elite vision, and ability to break tackles, Jeanty rushed for over 100 yards in every game during the 2024 season. Over his Boise State career, he set the program’s all-time rushing record with 4,769 yards and 50 career rushing touchdowns. His all-around ability has scouts considering him the top running back prospect in this year’s draft.

Heisman Runner-Up & Future NFL Star

Despite his record-setting season, Jeanty narrowly missed out on the Heisman Trophy, finishing second to Colorado’s Travis Hunter. However, with his stock rising, he remains one of the most highly anticipated prospects heading into the NFL Draft.

With the NFL Combine now focusing on his interviews and medical evaluations, all eyes will be on Boise State’s pro day, where Jeanty is expected to put on an impressive performance for scouts and NFL teams.
