Scheffler Wins PGA Tour Player of the Year Third Consecutive Time

Scottie Scheffler Named PGA Tour Player of the Year for Third Straight Season

Scottie Scheffler has solidified his place in golf history by being voted the PGA Tour Player of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive season, the U.S.-based circuit announced on Tuesday. This remarkable achievement makes him the first player to win the award three years in a row since Tiger Woods accomplished the feat from 2005 to 2007.

A Stellar 2024 Season

Scheffler, the world number one, delivered a season to remember, claiming seven PGA Tour titles in 2024, including some of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments. His victories included the Masters, a successful defense of his Players Championship title, and a season-long FedExCup victory. Adding to his stellar achievements, Scheffler brought home the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, showcasing his dominance on an international stage.

Throughout the season, Scheffler maintained the world’s top ranking without interruption. In 19 starts, he achieved a PGA Tour-best 16 top-10 finishes and completed the season without missing a single cut, a testament to his consistency and resilience under pressure.

Recognition and Praise

“On behalf of the PGA Tour, congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on a truly historic season, capped off with his first FedExCup title and today a third consecutive Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA Tour Player of the Year,” said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. “Scottie took on challenges from the best players in the world on the biggest stages all season, and being honored as PGA Tour Player of the Year is the ultimate sign of respect from his peers.”

The prestigious award, determined through votes cast by PGA Tour members, saw Scheffler earning a staggering 91% of the vote, far outpacing fellow nominees Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy.

A Place Among Legends

Scheffler now joins the ranks of golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as one of the few players to win the PGA Tour Player of the Year honor three or more times. Woods holds the record with 11 awards, while McIlroy has won three (2012, 2014, 2019).

A Personal Milestone

Off the course, 2024 was also a milestone year for Scheffler personally. In May, he and his wife, Meredith, welcomed their first child, a son named Bennett. The arrival of their son marked a joyous chapter in their lives, complementing Scheffler’s professional triumphs.

Scottie Scheffler’s historic season has not only cemented his status as the best player in the world but also as a key figure in modern golf history. With his consistent excellence and unwavering determination, he continues to inspire fans and fellow players alike.
